Background

Hi everyone! I am Tony Cheung, a Marketing Data Science Manager at Domino’s. After completing a BSc in Economics at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2016, I began my career at Cathay Pacific, working in both the Cargo and Passenger Revenue departments as a Data Analyst and Assistant Data Manager.

In autumn 2020, I moved to the UK to pursue a master’s degree in Data Science at the University of Bath. During my placement year at Universal Music Group, I collaborated with data scientists in an internal strategy team, delivering analytics solutions to support various record labels. After completing my master’s, I joined Dyson as a Data Scientist, leading a data science team focused on leveraging data to enhance user experience and personalization.

Most recently, I transitioned to my current role at Domino’s, where I focus on applying data science to marketing—leveraging customers’, company, and competitors’ data. My projects include occasion segmentation, competitor intelligence, and personalized deal recommendations, all aimed at maximizing customer engagement and driving business growth.

Throughout my career and studies, I realized that many online tutorials focus on using libraries without explaining the underlying concepts. That inspired me to create this website, where I break down algorithms from intuition to mathematics and Python implementation, while also sharing practical insights on data science, AI, and career development.

Interview

Throughout my career, I interviewed with companies across industries, progressing from an intern to senior roles while navigating hundreds of interviews from both the candidate’s and hiring manager’s perspective in Hong Kong and United Kingdom.

In addition, I got experience hosting interview and career workshops at universities, where I share practical advice on interview preparation, career development, and breaking into the data science industry.

My goal is to make interview preparation practical, honest, and based on real experiences rather than textbook answers.
